On December 22, 2021, a solemn presentation of the decorated main New Year tree of the country took place.

This year, the main symbol of the New Year on the Cathedral Square of the Moscow Kremlin is decorated based on the fairy tale Morozko, in the winter forest theme. It was decided to recreate the last year's design, since, unfortunately, due to the epidemiological situation, a year ago there were not many visitors to see the tree.

The design of the decorations is inspired by the ornaments of the Moscow Kremlin pearls: patterns of walls and arches of the Faceted Chamber, domes of cathedrals, surrounded the main spruce of the country.

This year, the garlands of lights have become longer and reach 3000 meters, with them 38 LED balls and 32 spotlights illuminate the New Year's beauty. More than 300 meters of beads and more than 1,100 decorations shine on it, 360 of which were handmade according to individual sketches specifically for this project.

The Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation cherishes the tradition of the main Russian New Year tree installation on the Moscow Kremlin Cathedral Square.

The tradition dates back to time, when Peter The Great officially postponed the New Year celebration from September 1, and in Russia for the first time the holiday was celebrated on January 1, 1700 on Red Square near the walls of the Moscow Kremlin.

In Soviet times, the tradition of installing the main New Year tree in the Moscow Kremlin was revived on the eve of the new 1955. Since the beginning of the 60s, the main Russian New Year children celebration has been held in the Kremlin Palace of Congresses. A Christmas tree for the main children's celebration in Soviet times was delivered on a big rig from near the city of Zvenigorod.

In December 1996, at the initiative of the first President of Russia, Boris Yeltsin, the tradition of installing a New Year's tree on the Kremlin's Cathedral Square was revived.

According to the established tradition, every year children help to decorate the main spruce of the country. This year, cadets of the Moscow Technical Fire and Rescue College named after Hero of the Russian Federation V.M. Maksimchuk were chosen to participate in decoration.

Since 1999, the college has been replenishing the ranks of the EMERCOM of Russia with competent specialists who proudly carry the title of firefighter and rescuer. Future defenders begin their journey into the profession from cadet classes. College students show good preparation, an extensive level of knowledge, high civic responsibility and an active life position during training and are ready for the upcoming professional activity.

Today, ten fifth grade students with excellent marks contributed to the creation of the New Year mood and made their wishes by hanging New Year's decorations on the Kremlin spruce.
