Each year, the Administrative directorate of the President of the Russian Federation organizes searches for the main symbol of the new year. This year, the Cathedral Square of the Moscow Kremlin will be decorated with a 90-year-old Christmas tree found in the village of Novopareyevo in the Shchelkovo urban district.
The selection takes place in accordance with strict parameters: shape, volume of needles, condition of bough, appearance. In addition, it should have easy-access for cutting and preparing before moving to the Moscow city center.
The searches were carried out for several months in the forest districts of the Moscow region, and among several dozen applicants it was this New Year's beauty that “won”.
Its height is about 28 meters, the trunk diameter is 56 centimeters, and the span of the lower branches is about 10 meters.
The cut and the arrival of the Christmas tree to the Cathedral Square of the Moscow Kremlin is scheduled for mid-December.
